Put a Spring in your step!
So for this newsletter I was going to talk about the spring must haves, but honestly, the list never changes! I would be writing about the same things as last year like a wrap dress, white jeans, something metallic, summer tote, et cetera.
However, there is a better topic to talk about - shoes! Now who doesn't love shoes? They always fit no matter how many cookies or slices of cake you had the night before, and they can really change the look and feel of an outfit.
Wedges are back and these are my favorite because you get the height of a heel, without the discomfort. Wedges can be worn with some of the spring must haves like a wrap dress or city shorts. They can also incorporate the metallic trend like these from Ann Taylor. These wedges are great because you can wear them with anything - metallics are a neutral and these will go with brown, black or navy.
Flats have also transitioned over from fall and they are back in a big way. I believe every woman should have a pair of flats - whether ballet flats, driving moccasins or others, because they are great when you need to move far and fast, yet still stylish. You can wear them with skirts, city shorts, pants or jeans. And, no foot is too big for a flat - I wear them and I have size 11 feet! One of my favorites are these red patent ones from Michael Kors, which also come in black and navy (found at Nordstrom).
Flip flops are probably the easiest thing to put on and we all have them, however, I encourage people to get one dressy pair. You don't have to get one with rinestones or jewels on it, but something that's a step up from the typical rubber flip flop. I really like both of these from Nordstrom - they are a sophisticated flip flop. Remember, flip flops can be more than just day wear - the right pair can take you through the night!
If you are looking to add a super trendy piece to your wardrobe this spring, then opt for something with lucite or silver. The space age trend is really big. These flats from Guess, (also at Nordstrom), are on my wish list to wear with shorts, a demin skirt or white jeans.
And I know everyone has been talking about ways to be green, and while it's hard to switch to totally organic clothing, there is something easy we can all do. When you go shopping, please ask that they don't use the tissue paper to wrap the clothes - it's not really needed and plus it saves some trees and our ozone too. Something this simple and easy that can make a difference, even if it's small. Thank you!
