Dress Your Body Type : Apple

The apple body type is sometimes known as an inverted triangle. This is Eileen. Her body type is an apple, which means her shoulders are broader than her hips and she does not have a naturally defined waist. Eileen really doesn’t have hips and she is very narrow on the bottom half.

Most apples also have a larger chest, since they gain their weight on the top versus the bottom. They are also usually the ones who are short-waisted. This means that they have a short torso and longer legs. Most apples have a flat bottom, but great thin legs as they are the ones who say they feel like a potato on toothpicks!

Eileen is a size 10 apple. She has recently lost weight. She is still an Apple. Her shoulders are still broader then her hips. Losing weight will not change your body type.

Apples want to balance out their shoulders by adding volume to the bottom half and de-emphasizing the top. A-line and circle skirts or floaty dresses help balance out the body. Wrap tops will help define a waist and tunics are great as well. No crewnecks, turtlenecks or anything double-breasted.

• Circle Skirt and ideally one with a pattern at the bottom instead of at the waistband
• A-line Dress cinched in the middle or with a wide rusched waistband
• Wrap Dress
• Wrap Top
• Tunic that ends at the hip bone
• Jacket/Blazer with a high stance and ideally, a slopped shoulder
• Straight-leg Trousers with 3D pockets on the back and pockets at the hip
